Awww! How sweet! AdSense thinks my blog is popular

Mina suggested that I owe two posts, since I had nothing to say in November. AdSense thinks I'm popular. I don't know how these two things are related, but I'm sure they must be.

This is what happens when I have nothing to say - I ramble on about nothing. It's been an eventful week around here, but not a pleasant one. Fortunately, I had Mel's cricket to distract me for some time.

My husband's father passed away this week. He had cancer a few years ago, and it appeared that he had beaten it. Unfortunately, it came back. It must have come back in stealth mode, because the doctors did not detect it until it had spread everywhere. My father-in-law opted to forego treatment, and was able to fulfill his desire to die at home, surrounded by his family.

Now I just have to get through the wake and funeral without saying anything awkward. It's really hard to suppress my natural talent that way. If there's one thing at which I excel, it's saying awkward things, and I really let my light shine at wakes. Someone sew my mouth shut, please.

  2. I hope your Husband can take some comfort from the fact he died surrounded by those he loved.

I am also the queen of saying the wrong thing. Silence might well be the best policy.

  3. My condolences, my thoughts are with you and your husband.

I am the woman who collapsed into hysterical giggles at her grandmother's funeral. Yeah, that was not in the least awkward or embarrassing. Go me.

  4. I'm sorry to hear that. Isn't it crazy how nerves can remove all filter. I also have a knack for saying all the wrong things.

  5. Very sorry about your FIL. Glad in a way that he was surrounded by close family during his last days.

Oh you sure are very popular. Mina wrote me a long letter of every blogger she has met online who has been enthusing about you.... (just kidding....he he he... )

  6. Sad news.

I am sorry for your loss, a. At my father-in-law's funeral, it was all hand-shaking and "I am sorry for your troubles". Very little opportunity to put a foot in it, honestly! You'll be fine.

I'm sorry about your father in-law, cancer sucks.

  8. Cancer is awful. I am so sorry for your loss. At least he got his wish, when all else failed...

As for your talent, it may be somehow awkward when it happens, but then, you always have some very good icebreakers for any party, don't you?

  11. I'm really sorry for the loss of your father-in-law. I hope your family (and your husband) are ok.

I am another one of the "really must just keep mouth shut" types. I sing a song in my head to distract my mouth. I can earwig you, if you need?

  13. I'm sad that your FIL lost his fight with cancer, but if you gotta go (which we all do), going on your terms is a good thing.

How did your mouth do at the wake?

    AdSense thinks I suck.

  14. Do what I do, just don't say anything. Unless someone really begins pressing you to say something. Then just deliberately say something extremely awkward to shut them up. Seriously I wouldn't worry about it too much. You are hardly the only person who excels in that area. Sorry for your family's loss.
