File Under: A Little Competition is a Good Thing?

Overheard in my household today:

Scene: The bedroom, where my husband is preparing to shower by doing his pre-shower mini-exercise routine. My daughter is "exercising" too.

Daughter: Exercise is good for you, right, Daddy?

Husband: Yes it is!

Daughter: It helps you live a long time!

Husband: Yes!

Daughter: You and I are going to live a lot longer than Mommy, right, Daddy?

Husband: ...

(For the record, I get up a half hour earlier than necessary so I can work out before I go to work. My daughter is well aware of this.)

  2. Hi new follower and reader! This was hilarious. I'm sure my son thinks the sun shines out of his father's bum too!!

  3. My kid is always bragging about how she is less of a picky eater than I am since she will eat everything daddy eats. It's true, too, but she doesn't have to be so smug about it!

  6. Well, well... I suppose if she's using that competitiveness to try to be healthier, right?....

  7. In my experience it must be a law that Daddy gets credit for everything and Mommy gets, well, to eat bonbons.

  10. Very funny! I've always been amazed at how kids come up with these things...without even batting an eye! They are the best comedians =D

P.S. From this exchange, I'd say you're doing pretty well on that wish for your daughter to have as happy and carefree a life possible. Seems like she definitely knows how to see the lighter side of life!

  12. You know you missed posting in November, right? You owe us two posts in December! Honestly, I can hardly wait! I do hope there are two posts coming up this month, and you're not cheating your way out of it... It would totally blow. Just saying.

  14. Clearly this falls under the umbrella of "kids say the darndest things." Just smile and nod :)
